Future Anticipated Summer Programs
Wheaton College faculty design and lead a variety of summer international or domestic study programs to complement and enhance the on-campus academic experience. Here are the anticipated programs for upcoming summers(for-credit).
All Programs are subject to internal approval, minimum enrollment, and ongoing evaluation of local conditions,
including enhanced health and safety reviews. All Programs, therefore, are subject to change.
FPE Abroad | International Study Program
The FPE Abroad | International Study Program is an exciting eight-week immersion program uniquely blending the cultural, political, economic and business aspects of cultures around the globe. The program focuses on the interaction of political and economic policy, the effects of globalization on human flourishing, and the economic well-being of countries in the study area. Students take part in numerous site visits and hear lectures from business leaders and diplomats. This program features on-campus and off-campus learning, and as part of the course work, student teams, with faculty guidance, develop research projects designed to be presented at the corporate or policy executive level. Summer in Querétaro
Summer in Querétaro is a 4-week intensive study abroad program in Querétaro, Mexico. Students will have the opportunity to fulfill the language requirement with SPAN 201. They will live in pairs of two with host families and have weekly evening gatherings with Christian youth, visits to museums and churches. They will have a weekly coffee hour, conversation groups, volunteering, an excursion to Mexico City, and to Sierra Gorda for a well-rounded study abroad experience. Learn more >>>

This program provides students with the opportunity to read the philosophical and educational works of European Philosophers in the contexts in which they wrote them. By reading texts and visiting the educational sites that influenced their writings, students will be invited to understand what a transformative educational can mean for them as students, and for those who hope to be K-12 teachers or professors, what a transformative education might mean for their future teachers. The Tropical Marine and Rainforest Ecology in Belize program includes a 2 week stay on the expansive Mesoamerican Barrier Reef on the island of Southwater Caye and in the rainforests of the Maya Mountains at the Las Cuevas Field Station. The May program is an extension of the Tropical Marine and Rainforest Ecology course taught during B-quad spring semester, which is open to students who have taken BIOL 242 (e.g. generally students in the Biology and Environmental Science Depts). Combined, the two courses provide 4 credits of instruction and field work in the two most biodiverse ecosystems on earth, the tropical coral reef and the tropical montane rainforest. Learn more>>>
The Wheaton in England program provides students the opportunity to immerse themselves in literary narratives, historical realities, and visual culture as they experience the richness of British culture and its global connections. In the unifying seminar, students read select literary offerings that offer the chance to practice spiritual and academic reflection on how language and place mutually constitute each other. Students will not only study the British classics and root them in the imaginative soil of place, but also engage with contemporary British and global literature within the realities of Britain today. Summer study in Salamanca, Spain offers courses in advanced Spanish language and civilization for language majors and non-majors. Language courses are taught by national Spanish instructors; civilization courses are taught by Wheaton faculty. Students live in Spanish homes for one month. The program includes academic visits to various sites, including Madrid, El Escorial, Toledo, Granada, Córdoba, Sevilla, Mérida, Segovia, Ávila, León, Santiago de Compostela, Bilbao and other locations of interest. Wheaton in Washington
Wheaton in Washington offers students an inside look into the work of men and women in the nation's capital. After preparation on campus in a B quad class, the program will travel to Washington D.C. to interact with people who work in a wide range of organizations in many different fields. Each weekday will be filled with interviews and sessions with legislators, congressional aides, interest group and NGO leaders, think tank experts, journalists, religious leaders, lobbyists, foreign service officers, administration officials, and more. On the weekend, students are free to explore the nation's capital. Learn more>>>
